In plain English

Nobody pays me except you. I do not install, sell or recommend products for a fee, and any connection to someone involved in your project is disclosed before we start.

The policy

  1. No commission, ever. Apex accepts no commission, referral fee, introduction fee, rebate, discount or other consideration from any installer, contractor, manufacturer, distributor, financier or supplier, in any circumstances. Apex is paid by its clients and by its clients alone.
  2. No advising on an installer I work for. If Apex ever provides engineering services to an installer, Apex will not advise a client on a quote, design or dispute involving that installer. Where that situation arises I will disclose it and decline the instruction.
  3. The installer list is published. Every installer or contractor Apex provides services to is named on this page and kept current, so you can check the position yourself before instructing me.
  4. Open disclosure in every report. Each report states any interest I hold relevant to its subject, or states that I hold none.
  5. Separation of roles. I am engaged as Chief Technology Officer of Axiom Novus, a Copenhagen-based solar engineering firm working on large projects. Apex does not act on any project in which Axiom Novus is involved, and vice versa. Where a prospective instruction touches either, it is disclosed and declined under rule 2.

Installers and contractors Apex provides services to

None at present. Apex does not currently provide engineering services to any installer or contractor. This page will be updated before any such engagement begins.

Why this is published

Most technical advice in the solar market comes from a party with an interest in the outcome. That is usually structural rather than dishonest, but it means a client has no way of telling good advice from a well-argued sales case.

Stating the rules in advance, and naming the relationships, is the only version of independence that can actually be checked. If you think something on this page is insufficient for your situation, say so and I will address it in writing before we start.

Not sure where to start? That is what the first call is for.

Most enquiries begin with a fifteen-minute conversation and a look at whatever you already have: a quote, a screenshot of your monitoring app, a contract, your bills. If the honest answer is that you do not need me, I will say so, and it costs you nothing.
